Woodpecker Pollen

40 x 40 cm

oil, oily stick and pigment on canvas

2026

Woodpecker does not give pollen. But in this painting it might. In woodpecker pollen, the shapes appear during the making itself, without a previous drawing or a defined image. One color pulls another, a risk crosses a mass, one shape is covered until another appears. Oil, oily stick and loose pigment behave differently on the surface: they run, scratch, accumulate, turn into dust. Gradually things appear that resemble beaks, feathers, flowers, insects, pieces of garden. The title comes from the same game of associations, as if the painting had invented a species and, along with it, a substance that could only exist there.
