The work is part of Ana Hortides‘ research on the visual repertoires of Brazilian popular architecture. The shape of the shooting star, recurrent in ornaments of facades and platbands, is moved to the sculptural field and covered by ceramic shards, a material associated with domestic construction. By transposing these elements of scale and context, the artist brings together architecture, memory and popular imagination, transforming everyday details of the urban landscape into autonomous forms.
