I come across these little Marira paintings that keep contours inside them, tears of something to be deciphered, felt. They are parts, bands, the inside of a surgical gesture; curves and colors that fork. I want to gather these small curvatures, waves and pieces, to try to understand what is hidden behind these cuts, but it is impossible to make the effect that these ripples and folds bring me palpable. Mari Ra‘s paintings are marked by a cut, a blade that makes it possible to see the interior of something that is very intimate and singular. Perhaps the artist is always donating the possibility of looking closely at what happens after the cut, the fracture. I learned by seeing these little pictures that there is color and life in the pieces of things.
