Part of the Canapé series, composed of small-format paintings, the work portrays the monument to the squares, a landmark of the modernist architecture of Rio de Janeiro. This and other paintings from the series are made from photographs and authorial records made in the city. The scale of the painting, as in the other works of the series, alludes to the shape of a printed photograph.
