The work Komorebi is articulated from the planned arrangement of the fabric and the organic and ephemeral visions that emerge from its interaction with the light. A kind of hybrid garden of shadows and overlays is generated from scraps of different fabrics, whose sewing lines intersect, composing the design of the work in a structural, constructive way. The symmetrical geometry of the piece - referring to the grating, the chess, a form that symbolizes the human will to organize and order nature, is here the starting point for recreating an eminently natural phenomenon.
Distanced from the wall by steel pins, the work casts shadows that build a "other space", a heterotopia. This microcosm, real and physical, evokes the function of the garden described by Foucault: a place where nature is tamed and organized, reflecting the human desire for control and beauty.
The scene, however, borders on abstraction. The fragmentary combination of the cut surface recomposes the incident of sunlight filtered by the leaves, an event that gives the work its name, from the Japanese: Komorebi.
